TheSenior Director of Information Technology and Informaticsis an agency leadership position responsible for strategic advisement and operational leadership of the IT and Informatics Department at Planned Parenthood of Central and Western NY (PPCWNY). The Senior Director ensures that technology initiatives align with organizational goals, support high-quality patient care, and deliver exceptional service to all stakeholders. The Senior Director manages a department integral to supporting a growing organization. The position is responsible for overseeing the operational management of information technology systems and clinical informatics across the organization. This role ensures that technology solutions support clinical workflows, regulatory compliance, and organizational efficiency. This position will embed Just Culture principles to promote safety, trust, and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
Department Leadership: Directs and mentors the IT, data analytics, and informatics teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Establishes clear objectives, monitors performance, and provides performance management and professional development opportunities.
Operational Oversight: Oversees the daily operations of information technology, including help desk, desktop support, networking, telecommunications, and informatics services, ensuring reliability, security, and compliance with healthcare regulations. Manages the deployment and maintenance of hardware, software, data storage, and network infrastructure across all sites.
Strategic Planning: Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and implement technology strategies that support organizational priorities and growth. Evaluates emerging technologies for potential adoption.
Stakeholder Service: Ensures high-quality customer service to internal users, clinical teams, and external partners. Serves as a primary point of contact for technology needs, issues, and opportunities, responding promptly and effectively. Oversees the development and delivery of training programs to ensure staff proficiency in business technology systems.
Budget and Resource Management: Develops and manages the IT and informatics department budget. Optimizes resource allocation, negotiates vendor contracts, and executes cost management activities to support organizational sustainability. Monitors and manages external vendors and services from Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) Information Security.
Cybersecurity, Risk Management and Compliance: Maintains compliance with all relevant regulations, including HIPAA and other data privacy standards. Oversees cybersecurity initiatives and disaster recovery planning. Serves as HIPAA Security Officer.
Project Management: Leads the planning and execution of technology projects, including upgrades, integrations, and vendor coordination, ensuring timely delivery, stakeholder engagement, and measurable outcomes.
Clinical Informatics: Manages implementation and optimization of clinical systems (e.g., Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platforms such as Epic) in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Informatics.
Optimization: Collaborates with clinical leadership to improve system usability.
Develops and maintains IT policies, procedures, and documentation.
Change Management: Communicates changes effectively. Develops phased implementation plans. Establishes feedback mechanisms and adjusts them based on the outcomes.
Other Accountability Activities
Provide On-call 24/7 structure to support need to handle emergencies and updates
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
QualificationsApplicants must possess the following qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Education
Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred
Experience
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least three (3) years in healthcare informatics.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong knowledge of EMR systems and clinical workflows, business support tools, and business intelligence systems.
Project and vendor management experience.
Proficiency in hardware maintenance, network equipment and security, telecommunications, and enterprise software tools.
Proven ability to manage teams and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management.
Team leadership and staff development.

Work Schedule This position is full-time (40 hours per week)Regular schedule will be Monday - Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
Benefits & Compensation
At PPCWNY, we are committed to equitable compensation practices and transparency. In alignment with these efforts, the pay for this position ranges from $125,000 to $163,737 annually. Actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by law.
