The Nurse Consultant provides clinical expertise, regulatory guidance, and operational support to nursing leadership to ensure high standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and staff development. This role focuses on strengthening clinical practices, improving survey readiness, mentoring nursing leadership, and supporting quality improvement initiatives within the Key Responsibilities Clinical Oversight & Quality Improvement

Evaluate clinical systems, workflows, and nursing practices to ensure quality patient care.

Identify opportunities for clinical improvement and implement evidence-based practices.

Assist leadership in developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives.

Review adverse events, incidents, and clinical outcomes to identify trends and solutions.

Support infection control practices and patient safety initiatives.

Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readiness

Provide guidance on compliance with CMS, state Department of Health, and regulatory standards.

Conduct mock surveys and internal regulatory audits.

Review policies, procedures, and clinical documentation for regulatory alignment.

Assist leadership in preparing for state surveys, complaint investigations, and accreditation reviews.

Support corrective action plans and plans of correction when necessary.

Education & Staff Development

Partner with the education department to standardize training programs.

Develop and implement clinical education for nurses and nursing assistants.

Mentor nurse managers and charge nurses in leadership development.

Support competency validation and continuing education initiatives.

Assist with onboarding and professional development for nursing staff.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Work collaboratively with physicians, therapy, social work, and interdisciplinary teams.

Participate in leadership meetings and quality improvement committees.

Provide consultation on complex clinical cases when needed

Q ualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Master's degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred

Minimum 5-10 years of clinical nursing experience

Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience in long-term care or skilled nursing

Strong experience in regulatory compliance, survey readiness, quality improvement, and staff development

Physical Requirements

· Stands, sits, and walks most of the day. Frequent moving and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to perform activities as defined in skills checklist.

Exposure to Conditions

· May be exposed to infectious diseases, odors and psycho-behavioral situations
