Job Description
Purpose:
The Human Resources Specialist II - Retirement and Benefits serves as a subject matter expert in retiree benefit programs, providing specialized support in retirement administration and employee benefits across TEES, TEEX, and TTI. This position independently guides employees through retirement plan options, enrollment processes, and retirement planning.
Responsibilities:
75% Retirement Administration
Serves as a subject matter expert for retiree benefit programs, providing guidance and interpretation of System policies and institutional procedures.
Advises employees on retirement plan options and enrollment, including TRS, ORP, TDA, and DCP.
Processes ORP elections and TRS28 forms for employees hired or transferred into ORPeligible positions across TEES, TEEX, and TTI.
Manages returned unvested funds and maintains accurate tracking of ORP vesting information; coordinates fund retrieval as needed.
Leads retirement counseling sessions-both in-person and virtual-covering retirement planning, benefit cost estimates, and eligibility verification.
Presents retirement information during new hire orientation.
Delivers bi-monthly educational presentations (in-person and online) to active employees on the retirement process.
Prepares and processes retirement and tax-deferred account documentation for employees terminating or retiring.
Collaborates with System Benefits Administration and external retirement vendors.
Runs weekly, biweekly, and monthly retirement-related reports as required.
20% Benefits and Leave Administration
Provides backup support for all employee benefit programs and leave administration.
Assists with employee inquiries, benefit transactions, and documentation.
Supports the Leave Administrator in managing leave-related processes.
5% Other Duties
Supports high-volume HR activities during key annual events, including Open Enrollment and the start of Fall and Spring semesters.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What is needed:
Bachelor's Degree. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Two years of related experience.
