Responsible for directing the overall administration of the agency. The Executive Director and State Chief Information Officer will lead a team of approximately 325 full-time employees. By statute, the Executive Director is the State Chief Information Security Officer and has authority for all aspects of information technology for state agencies, including the use of technology to support state goals; functional support to state agencies; technology purchases; deployment of new technology; delivery of technology services; and provision of leadership on technology issues. The Executive Director and State Chief Information Officer will interact with internal and external government customers and vendor partners to ensure continuous customer satisfaction and exceptional customer experience. They will participate in overall department and statewide technology planning, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems. They understand the core IT competencies of the agency and the value they bring to departmental processes. and#183; Leads the agency, in conjunction with DIRand#8217;s governing board, in the development of the strategic direction.and#183; Serves as the Chief Information Officer for the State of Texas.and#183; Directs the day-to-day operation of the agency in accordance with board policies, state and federal laws and internal rules, regulations and procedures.and#183; Works with or advises the legislature on matters of information technology within state government including participation in legislative hearings.and#183; Determines the form, manner, and procedures for transmitting information to the governing board and reports to the board as necessary or required. Qualifications: Education Requiredand#183; Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelorand#8217;s degree.and#183; Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.Education Preferredand#183; Graduation from an accredited college or university with a post-graduate degree.Experience and Training Requiredand#183; Four (4) years of management in a state agency or similar organization.and#183; Knowledge of DIR programs for delivering technology services to eligible government entities.and#183; Experience with state legislative processes.and#183; Experience with evaluating, selecting, and successfully managing outsourcing/consulting partners.and#183; Demonstrated teamwork and customer-facing skills.and#183; Broad spectrum of experience including project management, operational process development and improvement, metrics development, and general knowledge of technology.and#183; Ability to balance the drive for department and statewide effici
