Job Summary

The Nevada Department of Corrections is hiring multiple Certified Nursing Assistants in Ely, NV. Certified Nursing Assistants will work under the direct supervision of a Correctional Nurse II. Incumbents will contribute to basic health assessments, collections, reports and records on flow sheets, treatment sheets basic objectives and subjective data related to patients health status and report any changes to the CN II. Position will also require incumbents to provide personal care including bathing, dressing, oral care, eating, repositioning or assist inmates with activities of daily living and provide treatment as directed by professional staff. Will need to be able to prioritize tasks, estimate time frames, meet deadlines, plan and use available resources and coordinate work assignments with others. This position requires you to work directly with inmates.

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) perform basic restorative services and basic nursing services which are directed at the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, basic mental health and protection of patient rights in accordance with the Patients Bill of Rights and within the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.

Essential Qualifications

Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant by the Nevada State Board of Nursing and six months of experience performing work as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Nursing Assistant Trainee; OR six months as a Certified Nursing Assistant I in Nevada State service. The six months of job-related experience may be part of a formal Certified Nursing Assistant training program.

Job Duties

Contribute to basic health status assessments; collect, report and record basic objective and subjective data related to health status; observe residents/patients for changes in health status, signs and symptoms of illness or injury, or deviations from normal health status.
