Job Summary
The Software Engineer defines, develops, tests, analyzes, and maintains software applications. This includes being involved in understanding the business impact of the necessary work and creating solutions to realize that impact by researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the development life cycle.
Essential Functions
Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, developers, and other team members in the conceptualization and development of new or existing software applications
Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software's objectives, deliverables, and specifications in collaboration with internal users and departments
Help research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external users and stakeholders
Create software to enhance functionality and performance of applications
Perform software testing on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors and general debugging
Operate and monitor software for performance, maintenance needs, and ongoing success
Participate in defining software development plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation
Deploy software through lower environments upon completion of development, testing, and documentation
May provide product and software support for bugs, issues, and escalated incident tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues
Partner with others in resolving problems with software products or company software systems
Comply with Company and department policies and standards; performs other duties as assigned
Essential Functions: Animal Health - Companion
Assist in reverse engineering PiMS systems to understand basic data flows (SQL queries, API calls).
Develop and test middleware components that support UI-to-backend synchronization.
Use Playwright or browser extensions for basic UI automation and data scraping tasks.
Document technical findings and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
Support integration with Payment Gateway APIs for simple transaction flows.
Additional Responsibilities
In addition to the essential functions listed above, the incumbent may perform the following additional functions.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience or
Associate's Degree with work experience in a related field
1 year experience applying training and education
Preferred Requirements
Reverse engineering experience (Win32 APIs, packet inspection, system hooks).
Experience integrating with veterinary, dental, or medical PiMS systems.
Experience with Playwright, Selenium, or browser automation tools
Skills and Abilities
Understanding of software development approaches and best practices
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of database and operating systems
Demonstrated knowledge in contemporary development approaches, functional, object-oriented, procedural
Demonstrated knowledge of proficiency in at least one modern programming language
Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products
Knowledge of all aspects of application development and product life cycles, including agile approaches
Companion PAYFAC ONLY: Fluent in at least one modern programming language (C#, Python, or JavaScript).
Companion PAYFAC ONLY: Comfortable reading SQL traces, inspecting HTTP traffic, and automating Windows UI elements.
Companion PAYFAC ONLY: Familiar with payment concepts like tokenization, chargebacks, settlement, merchant onboarding, and 3-DSecure.

The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount could exceed this range, based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills.
