This position serves our partners at the Department of Public Safety (DPS). The MNIT DPS team provides technical support to an agency dedicated to prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, enforcement, and education. The team manages a large number of applications to serve 15 diverse public safety divisions located across Minnesota.
As an Operations Support/Cloud Engineer, you will provide advanced technical design and engineering role within the MNIT DPS Operations Support Team in the transformation of MNIT Services cloud (private/public/hybrid) environments. This position will have an active role in developing and transforming the way we deliver and upgrade MNIT's cloud environments with upgraded tools, automation, and techniques based on technology best practices and the most up to date security standards. This role will take on an ever-changing part to analyze, assess, design and implement the next evolution of the cloud environment. This position will also assist DPS in reviewing current Cloud hosting and potentially migrating to Microsoft Azure Cloud environment for some or all of the DPS services currently hosted in AWS.
This position requires an employee to be onsite at 445 Minnesota St, Minnesota three (3) days per week, with the opportunity to work from a telework location on other days. Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience with Linux/Unix/Windows server operating systems, network, and cloud computing technologies.
Experience must include:
Windows Server Operating System administration including versions 2016-2022.
AWS, Azure, and GCP Cloud administration.
Supporting business applications with cloud services (Saas, PaaS, laaS).
Strong understanding of IT industry best practices and security standards.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months
Strongly referred Qualifications
Managing Windows Servers hosted in the cloud via cloud interfaces.
Managing infrastructure as code (IaC).
Preferred Qualifications
Migrating servers from on-prem to cloud.
Migrating servers from one Cloud vendor to another
Setting up networks and security access in the cloud
Configuring application and network load balancers in the cloud.
Advanced scripting with PowerShell.
