ABOUT THE ROLE:
The National Sales Manager for Business Development leads a high-performing team of Business Development Officers (BDOs) across the country, focusing on new client acquisition, revenue generation, and cross-functional business development initiatives within Commercial Regional Banking. This role is critical to achieving our aspiration of being best-in-class in new client acquisition. The role reports directly to the Head of Commercial Regional Banking and ensures full alignment with the organization's strategic growth priorities.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities for this role are below; you may support projects of varying complexity based on skill and organizational priorities.
Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement a national sales strategy for BDOs aligned with organizational objectives and regional priorities. Drive disciplined execution of sales playbooks and go-to-market strategies to achieve growth targets.
Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire BDOs across multiple regions to deliver exceptional performance. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Partner with HR and leadership to recruit, develop, and retain top talent.
Client Acquisition & Revenue Growth: Oversee strategic client acquisition efforts targeting high-value prospects in the Middle Market segment. Ensure consistent pipeline development and conversion through proactive prospecting and relationship-building.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Regional Banking leaders, Treasury Management, Commercial Payments, and Wealth & Asset Management to deliver integrated solutions and optimize client experience. Partner with product specialists and credit teams to structure competitive solutions for new clients.
Performance Management: Establish clear performance metrics and monitor results to ensure achievement of revenue, loan, and fee goals. Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on progress and opportunities.
Other Duties: Performing other duties as assigned, adapting to new tasks or shifts in priorities as necessary to support your team's and the company's mission.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 10+ years of experience in commercial banking or business development.
At least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record in sales leadership, client acquisition, and revenue growth.
Strong strategic thinking, influencing, and relationship-management skills.
Ability to lead through change and manage complex organizational dynamics.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Qualified candidates will possess an advanced degree of proficiency (typically from 10+ years of work or practical experience) in:
Sales Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead national-level or multi-regional sales teams in a high-performance environment.
Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and execute large-scale sales strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Client Acquisition: Skilled in securing new business, especially within Middle Market commercial banking.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Ability to influence and collaborate with product, credit, and operational partners.
Performance Analytics: Strong ability to define KPIs, monitor performance, and provide actionable insights.

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location.
