Job Summary

The Landscape Leadsman is responsible for performing a wide range of landscape and irrigation installation and maintenance tasks. This position oversees crew safety and compliance while performing and directing landscape and irrigation tasks such as planting, sod installation, and sprinkler setup.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment to perform landscaping and irrigation tasks such as laying sod, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, and installing sprinklers

Ensure that all employees attend the weekly tailgate meetings

Follow and enforce safety standards by:

Identify and review potential traffic hazards

Perform hard hats and safety gear checks

Conduct underground utility and trade hazard reviews

Ensure general public safety around the job site

Maintain a hazardous communication folder, including all relevant forms for chemicals used on the job site

Report reckless or dangerous activities to the job Superintendent; notify the Safety Officer of any accidents and submit accident reports according to company policy requirements

Support the team in completing projects on time while maintaining quality and safety standards

Education and Experience:

Minimum of 5 years' experience

Knowledge of OSHA Standards

6 months commercial landscape experience preferred

Able to lead and direct a crew of 2 to 4 people

Practice workplace safety

Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

Physical Demands/Requirements:

Use hand equipment with mechanized moving blades, such as gas-powered shears

Use manual hand tools such as shovels

Work at elevated heights, including on an 8-foot A-frame ladder

Use a hand shovel for an extended period

Moves soil, equipment, and materials, digs holes, and plants trees, shrubs, and flowers

Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)

Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)

Ability to bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the day

Work Environment:

Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic

Work near or about natural bodies of water

Work 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days/week (some overtime/weekend work required)

Ability to work in extreme conditions - temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit

Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
