Machinist / Mechanic

For almost 40 years, San Antonio Shoemakers, a San Antonio, Texas based company, has developed a reputation as a premier American manufacturer of high quality comfort footwear. Del Rio Manufacturing has an opening for a Stitching Machine Mechanic, who will contribute to production and quality in manufacturing by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment in the Del Rio, Texas facility.

Position

SAS has an opening for a Stitching Machine Mechanic

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Ensures operation of machinery, mechanical equipment and production machines by completing preventative maintenance requirements by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, engineering specifications and troubleshooting malfunctions.

Controls downtime by informing supervisors of routine preventative maintenance techniques monitoring compliance.

Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices and control instruments.

Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

Fabricates parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.

Maintains a safe and clean environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.

Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing additional tasks as needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent job performance and attendance.

Able to work independently with solid follow through.

A team player that works well with others.

Mature, responsible, and self-motivated with a strong work-ethic.

Equipment maintenance, technical understanding, deals well with uncertainty, basic safety, power tools, and attention to detail, flexibility, job knowledge and productivity.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Mechanic experience in shoe manufacturing or generally in manufacturing and production facilities.

Industrial sewing machine experience is very helpful.

Knowledge of electrical is important.

Bilingual is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Physical labor is often necessary for 8 hours or more per day with breaks approximately every two hours including standing stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing and engaging in repetitive motions

Excellent vision
