Description of Work Unit
The Office of Engagement and Extension ( OEE ) is a dynamic catalyst for learning, discovery, and impact across Colorado, the United States, and worldwide. As Colorado State University's front door to the world, OEE is evolving to meet the changing needs of learners, communities, and industries through bold, accessible, and forward-thinking approaches. With a mission rooted in CSU's land-grant heritage and vision aligned with CSU's Strategic Roadmap, OEE encompasses CSU Extension, CSU Learning Innovation Team (including CSU Online, CSU Professional Education, CSU Extension Programs, and OLLI ), the Colorado Water Center, and other high-impact programs. Position Summary
The Instructional Designer position designs and builds online courses that incorporate best practices to ensure a high-quality learning experience in a primarily, but not exclusively, online setting.
This position works directly with faculty and subject matter experts to develop course curricula and instructional materials for credit and noncredit courses, as well as standalone learning assets. The successful candidate in this role will demonstrate experience using a range of educational technology and pedagogical practices to create meaningful learning opportunities in the online space. The Instructional Designer will report to a Senior Manager of Instructional Design and join a team that works collaboratively to support the teaching and learning mission of the University.
This position will support in the creation of both English- and Spanish-language courses and be expected to collaborate with developing partners in entirely in Spanish.
This position is eligible for fully-remote work.
Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of 3 years of experience developing courses in collaboration with instructors or subject-matter experts.
Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and verbal.
Demonstrated ability to:
Manage multiple projects, prioritize work independently, and meet strict deadlines.
Apply best practices in instructional design and educational theory to creating online-focused content.
Maintain strong, productive working relationships with external collaborators, such as faculty and subject-matter experts.
Give thorough and constructive feedback on partners' work.
Train others, especially faculty and subject-matter experts, in best pedagogical practices and on using instructional technologies.
Write and communicate at an excellent level.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the Learning Innovation team will not sponsor a visa for this position.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Advanced degree in education, instructional design, or a closely related field.
Experience working in higher education or with lifelong learning ecosystems.
Familiarity with the Learning Innovation portfolios of CSU Online, CSU Professional Education, CSU Extension Programs, and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute ( OLLI ).
Experience working in Canvas Learning Management System.
Applied use of new and emerging technologies in the online educational space.
Experience developing educational content in Spanish.

Duty/Responsibility
Work collaboratively with instructors (including faculty, professional staff, graduate teaching assistants, and subject matter experts) to design blended and fully online learning experiences (credit, non-credit, and digital badging/certification), develop digital course materials, ensure timely development of instructional materials; design and apply best practices in assessments.
One-on-one training to instructors for using the Canvas learning management system, as well as other teaching technologies as part of the content development process.

Provide support in overseeing, tracking, and maintaining consistent quality across portfolios in conjunction with Senior Instructional Designers and Senior Managers of Instructional Design.
Collaborates with Senior Instructional Designer, Senior Manager, and developing partners to create curriculum that ensures consistency of courses across programs and that overall portfolios are meeting the needs of students and are aligned with workforce competencies.
