Job Description
The General Repair Worker (GRW) at Inver Hills Community Colleges is responsible for providing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks across the campus. This includes general mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and servicing of building components, college equipment, plumbing systems, and utilities. The role also involves maintaining and supporting the physical plant, energy management systems, and auxiliary generator. In addition to repair duties, the GRW assists with minor construction and remodeling projects throughout the campus, which consists of twelve major buildings and a central Power and Chiller Plant. Seasonal responsibilities include supporting snow removal efforts to ensure safe access to building entrances, exits, common areas, and campus grounds.
This position is primarily located at Inver Hills Community College (Inver Grove Heights, MN). Based upon departmental priorities, this position may also provide support at Dakota County Technical College (Rosemount, MN).
Salary Range:
$26.77 - $30.81/ Hour; $55,896 - $64,331/ Year
Minimum Qualifications ( Must be reflected on resume/application)
Knowledge of general methods and practices of a variety of trade areas (e.g. mechanics, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing and carpentry) sufficient to assist licensed trades workers and to repair machinery, tools and facilities in a timely and safe manner.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
Ability to safely use hand and power hand tools.
Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road maintenance equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying and bending

In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
