Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Towson, Maryland. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient processing of invoices, payments, and financial records using a hands-on, manual approach. This part-time position offers the opportunity to transition into a permanent role, depending on the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities:

Process approximately 200 invoices monthly using a manual, paper-based system.

Conduct daily check runs, ensuring all payments are accurately prepared and recorded.

Review and process credit card bills, including verification of invoices, purchase orders, and proper coding.

Prepare and print paper checks, including handling manual processes for special funds.

Enter invoice data into the system using software.

Manage Form 1099 preparation and filing, primarily during January.

Maintain exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all accounts payable tasks.

Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to address inquiries and resolve discrepancies.

Cross-train with the current employee to gain insights into processes and ensure a smooth transition.

Demonstrate strong communication skills to effectively report and document financial activities.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable or a related field.

Proficiency in handling manual accounts payable processes, including invoice coding and check runs.

Familiarity with Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions and 3-way matching procedures.

Experience preparing and managing Form 1099 documentation.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision in a manual environment.

Skilled in using accounts payable software, for data entry.

Ability to quickly adapt to new processes and workflows.

Excellent communication and organizational skills to support efficient financial operations.
