As a key member of the estimating department, the Electrical Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and timely cost estimates that form the foundation of our competitive bids and proposals. This role plays a crucial part in interpreting detailed drawings and specifications, identifying value-engineered solutions, and contributing to project planning efforts from concept to completion.

Responsibilities:
The estimating department is responsible for producing project-specific construction estimates based on written and/or oral instructions from our clients. Your role in this process will be as follows:
Develop accurate and timely electrical construction estimates on which we base competitive bids and proposals for our client-base customers.
Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications.
Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications.
Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative.
Draft scope letters, proposals and vendor solicitations.
Attend job walks; pre-bid meetings; collaborations and conferences with clients and design professionals.
Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner.
Additional Essential Functions:
Work alongside other estimators, project managers and project engineers on change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of on-going projects.
Help create and communicate company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specs work.
Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with the following software: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Outlook.
Knowledge and proficiency with Code requirements and basic electrical engineering calculations; Voltage-drop, Ohm's law, conduit-fill, wire ampacity, de-rating, etc. is a plus
Analytical, problem-solving mentality.
Team player, self-motivated, gets along well with supervisors, peers and subordinates.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Able to track and organize project and information.
Able to calculate figures and amounts.
Possesses sound judgement skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work.
Willing to consider commercial electrical experience with the right candidate.
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required, but additional education or experience in Estimating, Construction Management, Finance or Business Administration or other equivalent studies is preferred.
1 to 2 years of Electrical Estimating experience preferred.
Compensation: The base pay range for this position is $80,000-100,000. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.
Location: This role will be based out of our Fort Collins, CO office.
Travel: This role requires some occasional travel to job sites near Omaha area, per business needs and requirements (10%).
