The Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and dependable Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor to educate the inmates at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy in the practices of the electrical trade. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will supervise and instruct inmates in the electrical trade. Your work will involve providing on-the-job training in the standard practices, methods, and procedures of the electrical trade. This will include installation, construction, repair, inspection, and maintenance of above and underground electrical systems, building electrical systems, lighting systems, switch boxes and transformers, motors, generators, and electrical appliances. You will maintain documentation of all inmate training progress, attendance, and assignment details. You will also oversee and direct inmate work crews in completing electrical work orders, plan and assign daily inmate schedules, and inspect completed work assignments. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain order and discipline of inmates during work assignments and classroom instruction.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings;or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade;or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the electrical trade.

Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet thePA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow thelinkand click on Residency. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
