Summary You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL DIVISION of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY NORFOLK NSY. Responsibilities You will develop and implement spill prevention, control and countermeasure planning, and emergency response actions in compliance with environmental protection regulations. You will execute environmental programs (e.g., air pollution control, water pollution control, hazardous waste management) to support mission requirement. You will administer hazardous waste plans, instructions, and operating procedures that apply to environmental program. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: GS-12:One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Planning, implementing, or monitoring the administration of installation's environmental programs to include: Solid and Hazardous Waste Management/Disposal, Spill Prevention/Recovery, Spill Response, and Air Emissions programs; 2) Resolving issues related to solid waste and air emissions programs; 3) Coordinating environmental program inspections to evaluate compliance with all applicable regulatory regulations and policies; 4) Providing guidance on solid waste and air emissions management concepts, principles and practices; and 5) Monitoring solid waste and air emissions projects to ensure timely completion. GS-11:One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Preparing, updating and implementing environmental protection plans; 2) Ensuring compliance with Federal, State and DoD environmental regulations; 3) Executing solid waste and air emissions programs; 4) Coordinating and executing an Inspection Program for environmental compliance program management; 5) Preparing and continually monitoring environmental compliance in accordance with applicable regulations; and 6) Providing recommendations to leadership to enhance the solid waste and Clean Air Act programs.
