Description

A nonprofit is looking for a dedicated Property Accountant to join their team on a Contract-to-Permanent basis in Los Angeles, California. In this role, you will oversee financial operations for multiple properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain trial balances and general ledgers, ensuring accuracy in financial data.

Generate monthly financial statements, including budget-to-actual variance reports, for management review.

Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheets and bank accounts, maintaining detailed supporting documentation.

Review and approve accounts payable invoices, scheduling payments based on cash availability.

Collaborate with property managers to address tenant receivables and reconcile discrepancies.

Process and verify deposits for operating properties, communicating any noted discrepancies to relevant stakeholders.

Monitor and track advances and prepare reconciliation reports as needed.

Assist in preparing for audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries.

Handle special projects as assigned by leadership, contributing to the improvement of financial processes.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field.

3 to 5 years of experience in affordable housing, property management, or non-profit accounting.

Proficiency with Yardi software and strong knowledge of accrual accounting principles.

Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close processes and maintain general ledger accounts.

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams.

Flexibility and eagerness to learn new systems and processes.

Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and task resolution.
