Position Description
As an Electrical Engineering Aide , you won't just be observing,you will be hands-on with real electronics hardware and antenna systems from day one at our Ludlow, MA office . Your projects will include RF and antenna testing, circuit and subsystem design, troubleshooting, and documentation for advanced communications and defense platforms.
This is a Part-Time opportunity
Working side-by-side with a team of senior engineers eager to mentor you, you will:
Design and analyze system and component block diagrams, selecting and evaluating electrical and RF components using CAD tools.
Perform detailed circuit and subsystem design, creating solutions that meet strict performance and reliability requirements.
Debug, tune, and test proto@type and pilot production units to ensure electrical and RF performance.
Conduct RF testing and characterization using state-of-the-art RF measurement and metrology equipment.
Get hands-on experience in our Near-Field and Compact Antenna Ranges, learning how antenna systems are tuned, aligned, and validated.
Develop and refine assembly aids, test fixtures, test procedures, and custom test stations to support production and validation.
Collaborate with program management, operations, quality assurance, and cross-functional engineering teams to bring designs from concept to production.

In this role, you will:
Take part in real-world electrical and RF engineering projects from concept to production, gaining exposure to every stage of the design cycle;
Design & Development
Research, design, and document circuit, RF, and subsystem solutions-from initial concepts to production-ready designs.
Create system and component block diagrams, evaluate component options, and perform electrical and RF analyses using advanced CAD tools.
Assist in developing assembly aids, antenna alignment fixtures, and RF test stations to support production and validation.
Write software tools to automate testing and analyze test results.
Collaboration & Mentorship
Work closely with senior electrical engineers, RF specialists, and program managers to refine requirements and deliver solutions.
Partner with operations, manufacturing, and test teams to assemble, integrate, and verify proto@types.
Participate in design reviews (preliminary, critical, production readiness) to see how ideas evolve into field-ready hardware.
Testing & Validation
Perform RF and antenna testing, including calibration, tuning, and performance characterization.
Support system-level qualification testing and structured validation processes for defense-grade systems, including shock, vibration, and thermal stress testing.
Gain hands-on experience with RF diagnostic tools, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and antenna measurement systems.
Documentation & Professional Skills
Contribute to manufacturing documentation packages and engineering deliverables.
Learn to navigate structured engineering workflows like the Serco Gate Review process.
Build strong professional skills: technical communication, teamwork, customer interaction, confidentiality, and engineering ethics.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
U.S. Citizenship required
High School Diploma/GED
Students currently pursuing an Electrical Engineering (or related) degree at an accredited bachelor's program
Rising Juniors and Seniors preferred
Proficiency with RF test equipment, including RF sources and analyzers
MATLAB proficiency for data analysis and visualization
Ability to read and analyze circuits and schematics
Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor
Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment and adapt to change
Self-motivated with a strong work initiative and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with PC and MS Office Suite
Additional desired experience and skills:
Working understanding of antenna theory is a plus
Familiarity with LabVIEW, CAD, and EDA tools is a plus

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $39,330.26 to $58,995.39; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
