SummaryThe Cutter is responsible for safely and accurately operating a variety of cutting equipment to prepare raw materials for production. This role includes setting up and running band saws, pipe cutters, and related tools; performing routine maintenance and inspections; and ensuring materials are cut to specification. The Cutter must interpret job instructions, monitor equipment performance, and maintain organization of materials in accordance with safety and quality standards.ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain cutting equipment, including band saws, 40" Marvel, HEM saw, and pipe cutterPerform basic equipment maintenance and safety inspections of slings, clamps, and chainsRegulate oxygen/gas torches and pipe cutters; change blades and cutting tips as neededUse cut calculator in Syteline and accurately complete job tickets and return-to-stock documentationDistinguish between scrap and recyclable material and stage materials appropriatelyFollow procedures for Level One and nuclear jobs, including conducting LP (Liquid Penetrant) testingSet correct speeds and feeds for different materials; adjust production based on prioritiesTroubleshoot and resolve production issues in collaboration with engineeringSupport department organization, time management, and adherence to safety protocolsQualificationsAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishStrong attention to detail, safety, and time managementProblem-solving skills and ability to interpret written, verbal, or diagram-based instructionsDemonstrated initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a teamCompetency in assigned on-the-job trainingEducation and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredVocational training or trade school experience preferredMinimum 2 years of relevant cutting or machine operation experience preferredForklift/lift truck experience a plusPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
