2026 Program Information

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light's internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines.

Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August).

Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH's Hybrid Work Model (described below).

Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies.

Candidates must have at least one semester remaining after completion of the internship/must not have graduated prior to the internship starting.

Candidates must be in good academic standing.

Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description.

Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.

Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

Continue to build onto our DLC property database by researching DLC owned properties and cataloging them into the existing database with information pertaining to tax records, land use records, and also researching potential future use for DLC projects. Create a digital database for all ROW records based on past, hard copy records of crossing agreements and railroad license agreements. Intern will need to pull hard copy records, scan, and catalog agreement information into one digital folder. Assist Real Estate management in obtaining leases for DLC as well as working with outside groups to approve easements or other real estate agreements on DLC owned property. Review permitting restrictions on the state, county, and municipal levels in support of internal DLC projects.

Education/Experience

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Business; Data Analytics; Finance; Real Estate; Urban Planning; Geography; Communications.

Skills/Abilities

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Hybrid Work

All internships follow our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

Other
