2027 Program Information

The Efficiency Network (TEN) and Duquesne Light Company offer summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. The internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines.

Location : Hybrid In Pittsburgh, PA

Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August).

Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH's Hybrid Work Model (described below).

Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies.

Candidates must have at least one semester remaining after completion of the internship/must not have graduated prior to the internship starting.

Candidates must be in good academic standing.

Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description.

Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.

Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills.

Overall Purpose

TEN (The Efficiency Network) is a provider of customized energy solutions for large businesses, governments, universities and hospital systems. TEN delivers a robust suite of fiscally sound, environmentally responsible energy efficiency, distributed generation and smart city products and services that exceed its customers' sustainability, financial and operational goals. These solutions extend to the areas of energy efficiency, LED lighting solutions, street lighting, onsite energy assets and renewables, and more.

The TEN - Construction intern will participate in various activities related to design support on existing development and construction projects.

Education/Experience

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Skills/Abilities

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Hybrid Work

All internships follow our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
