Koniag Information Technology Services (KITS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer to support our Army customer in Huntsville, Alabama. This position requires on-site presence in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Solutions Engineer will be responsible for designing, architecting, and implementing comprehensive cloud solutions throughout the entire workload migration lifecycle. This on-site role will focus on providing comprehensive cloud support services to the Army Materiel Command (AMC) Cloud Operations Team, designing and implementing solutions for multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems engineering, cloud architecture, and security compliance within DoD environments.
Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Design and develop enterprise-level solutions for multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments
Support the entire workload migration lifecycle from pre-migration planning through post-migration optimization
Create robust reference architecture utilizing DoD-approved cloud service providers
Integrate solutions with Army Enterprise Data Center service models
Develop streamlined migration processes and methodologies for efficient cloud transitions
Conduct thorough technical feasibility assessments and provide expert recommendations
Design architecture for optimal workload infrastructure performance and cost-efficiency
Engineer solutions that ensure data integrity and security across cloud environments
Implement monitoring systems for continuous assessment of approved cloud architecture
Establish data management frameworks aligned with DoD best practices
Design systems compliant with the Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide
Engineer solutions that adhere to the DoD Risk Management Framework requirements
Develop and implement comprehensive information systems security solutions
Create technical safeguards against both intentional and unintentional data threats
Engineer optimized cloud environments across multiple platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Design consolidated operational toolsets for enhanced management capabilities
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Provide expert guidance on cloud architecture, security, and implementation strategies
Develop documentation for complex system designs and implementation plans
Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, or related field
10+ years of experience as a Senior Systems Engineer
5+ years of dedicated experience in multi-cloud architecture, cybersecurity, cloud containers, and associated licensing
5+ years of experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP implementation, workload management, and optimization
5+ years of experience in Data Security Analysis within cloud environments
5+ years of experience as an IA Policy Compliance Certified Professional
Experience conducting Certification and Accreditation (C&A) or other IA/CND compliance processes
Required Skills and Competencies:
Professional certification at the Technical Level II as defined by DODI 8570
Expert knowledge of systems analysis, evaluation, design, integration, and implementation
Advanced expertise in multi-cloud architecture design across AWS, Azure, and GCP
Strong engineering capabilities with cloud container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
Experience designing licensing models and cost optimization strategies
Advanced understanding of cybersecurity engineering in cloud environments
Experience designing systems to safeguard information assets within cloud platforms
Proficiency in engineering solutions that meet compliance requirements
Comprehensive understanding of the Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide
Deep knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework and implementation
Experience architecting complex application migrations to cloud environments
Expert documentation skills for complex architectures and implementation plans
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex technical challenges
Experience designing hybrid cloud architectures and secure connectivity solutions
Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
Willingness to work on-site in Huntsville, Alabama
Desired Skills and Competencies:
Master's degree in a related technical field
Professional cloud architecture certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Architect, etc.)
Advanced security certifications (CISSP, CCSP, etc.)
Experience designing cloud solutions for Army or DoD environments
Knowledge of Army Enterprise Data Center architecture and operations
Experience with DevSecOps practices and implementing CI/CD pipelines
Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM Templates)
Advanced knowledge of containerization orchestration platforms
Experience designing cloud-native application architectures
Background in serverless computing design and implementation
Knowledge of advanced cloud governance frameworks
Experience designing complex monitoring and management solutions
Expertise in network security architecture for cloud environments
Experience designing disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
Background in leading technical teams or mentoring junior engineers
