Koniag Information Technology Services (KITS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to support our Army customer in Huntsville, Alabama. This position requires on-site presence in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for supporting the entire cloud workload migration lifecycle and ensuring secure, optimized cloud operations across multiple platforms. This on-site role will focus on providing comprehensive cloud support services to the Army Materiel Command (AMC) Cloud Operations Team, specializing in multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with multiple cloud platforms, security compliance, and complex workload migrations within DoD environments.
Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Support the entire workload migration lifecycle from pre-migration planning through post-migration optimization
Work with DoD-approved cloud service providers and Army Enterprise Data Center service models
Develop robust reference architectures for cloud implementations
Create streamlined migration processes to ensure efficient transitions
Conduct thorough technical feasibility assessments for cloud migration recommendations
Continuously optimize workload infrastructure and architecture in cloud environments
Monitor approved cloud architecture to ensure integrity and security
Enforce data management best practices across cloud platforms
Conduct compliance reviews of computer security plans
Ensure adherence to the Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide and DoD Risk Management Framework
Develop and implement solutions to safeguard information systems assets in cloud environments
Protect against both intentional and unintentional data access or destruction
Optimize cloud environments for performance and cost-efficiency
Consolidate common operational tools to improve management capabilities
Design and implement secure multi-cloud and hybrid cloud architectures
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address security requirements
Provide expertise on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Support implementation, workload management, and optimization of cloud hosting environments
Participate in certification and accreditation processes for cloud-migrated systems
Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
10+ years of experience as a Senior Systems Engineer
5+ years of dedicated experience in multi-cloud architecture, cybersecurity, cloud containers, and associated licensing
5+ years of experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP implementation, workload management, and optimization
5+ years of experience in Data Security Analysis within cloud environments
5+ years of experience as an IA Policy Compliance Certified Professional
Experience conducting Certification and Accreditation (C&A) or other IA/CND compliance processes
Required Skills and Competencies:
Professional certification at the Technical Level II as defined by DODI 8570
Strong knowledge of systems analysis, evaluation, design, integration, and implementation
Expertise in multi-cloud architecture across AWS, Azure, and GCP
Experience with cloud container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
Knowledge of cloud licensing models and cost optimization strategies
Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices in cloud environments
Experience safeguarding information systems assets within cloud platforms
Proficiency in conducting compliance auditing for cloud-migrated systems
Understanding of the Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide
Knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework
Experience with complex application migrations to cloud environments
Strong documentation skills for architecture and implementation processes
Understanding of data management best practices in cloud environments
Experience optimizing cloud workloads for performance and cost
Knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures and connectivity solutions
Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
Willingness to work on-site in Huntsville, Alabama
Desired Skills and Competencies:
Master's degree in a related technical field
Cloud platform certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator, Google Cloud Professional, etc.)
Additional security certifications (CISSP, CCSP, etc.)
Experience working with Army or DoD cloud initiatives
Knowledge of Army Enterprise Data Center operations
Experience with DevSecOps practices and tools
Background in automation and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
Understanding of containerization orchestration platforms
Experience with cloud-native application development
Knowledge of serverless computing models and implementations
Background in cloud governance and compliance frameworks
Experience with cloud monitoring and management tools
Understanding of network security in cloud environments
Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity in cloud platforms
Experience mentoring junior cloud engineers or architects
