Responsibilities If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for technical, analytical, and automation services in support of the mission. Typical work assignments will include: Managing and operating a variety of computer hardware such as printers, plotters, audio-visual devices and other state-of-the art equipment to conceptualize exhibits and special presentation projects. Performing testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, and maintenance of automated resources. Customizing databases and software programs to meet user needs. Providing support for the presentation of evidence and other demonstrative exhibits in federal district court proceedings. Preparing computerized presentations using a variety of software packages including database, spreadsheet, word processing, mapping, trial presentation, audio editing and video editing applications. Processing and indexing digital evidence using computer litigation support software. Diagnosing and resolving litigation support computer system hardware and software problems. Providing technical advice on legal automation requirements and system capabilities. Organizing voluminous case information for efficient retrieval through automated means such as scanning, indexing and coding documents into a database. Provide IT customer service and support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving software/hardware problems. Provide user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications. Provide a variety of technical support services to coordinate teleconferences and distance learning activities to effectively deliver legal training using electronic and/or telecommunications media. Install, configure, upgrade and troubleshoot hardware, network infrastructure, and software systems used within the organization. Responsibilities will increase, and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: Experience performing a variety of IT tasks such as, installing, configuring and maintaining IT equipment, performing testing, configuration, installation, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems utilizing data, voice and/or video format; installing hardware and software; resolving hardware/software interface and inoperability problems. Preferred experience includes: using automated litigation support technology such as Adobe Acrobat IX Pro or higher, Full Microsoft 365 Suite, Google Earth Pro, On Cue, Everlaw or related programs; pre-trial and trial preparation and presentations; organizing voluminous case information for efficient retrieval through automated means such as scanning, indexing, and coding documents into a database; determining placement and appearance of visual materials that will most effectively present the information in the courtroom. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service and could have been gained in the federal, public, or private sector. Education: One of the following @types of education: a PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. This education must have been in one of the following fields OR must have provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the following fields and must have required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks: Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or Technology Management. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years. To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing a variety of IT tasks such as, providing IT customer support services, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware/software and networked systems, and maintenance of internet servers and websites; experience providing user training on routine applications, conducting information security analysis and compliance, and management of web design and legal compliance; experience providing oversight of network architecture and infrastructure and installation and maintenance of database systems; and experience involves providing Information Technology concepts, methods, standards, and practices as they relate to automated Litigation Support functions, i.e., trial preparation and presentation; developing and managing Litigation Support systems that meet current and future needs; and providing input into litigation support planning and policy activities.
