This position serves our partners at Minnesota's largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS). The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.
As an IT Release Coordinator, you will play a critical role in managing the full release lifecycle at Minnesota IT Services. This includes planning, scheduling, and coordinating releases to ensure smooth deployments that support our business partners. You'll lead release management activities-from developing deployment plans and facilitating release meetings to creating Change tickets and presenting at the Change Advisory Board.
In this role, you'll identify priorities, risks, conflicts, and dependencies, and implement mitigation strategies to keep releases/projects on track. Collaboration is central to success-you'll work closely with developers, testers, analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver reliable software updates and system enhancements into the production environment.
This position requires an employee to be onsite at 540 Cedar Street, St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in IT release management, software development, IT project management, or a related IT role.
Experience must include:
Hands-on experience with release and change management tools and platforms (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar), along with developing and implementing related processes and procedures.
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, application deployment, and system integration processes.
Proven ability to coordinate and manage multiple releases or projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
Demonstrated success collaborating with cross-functional teams (developers, testers, analysts, and project managers) and effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to anticipate risks, resolve issues, and maintain structured release management practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Customer service orientation, including active listening, empathy, and solution-focused problem-solving.
A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
ITIL, PMP, or Agile-related certifications.
Certified Release Manager or relevant certifications.
Experience with enterprise-level release and change management in a large organization or complex environment.
Proficiency in using advanced release and deployment tools, including automation and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure.
