POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Finance Controller (Days 8am to 5pm)
SHIFT HOURS: 8:00am to 5:00pm .
LOCATION: Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NY .
SALARY RANGE: $130,000 to $150,000
JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Finance Controller will drive the financial reporting and analysis of inventory costing, gross margin performance by product line, and volume / price / mix assessments.The Manufacturing Finance Controller will work with the Finance Director, Financial Controller and Cost Accounting Team on inventory costing, gross margin analysis as well as related reporting projects and activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for the accuracy and control of the inventory and cost-of-goods-sold accounting cycle. Duties include: 1) ensure the accuracy and control of general ledger transactions for inventory and cost-of-goods-sold, 2) develop and maintain ongoing standard cost roll-ups supporting inventory and cost-of-goods-sold valuations, 3) ensure the accuracy of work center direct labor, machine and overhead rates, 4) co-owner with operations personnel ongoing data integrity within the ERP system regarding inventory transactions, and 5) preparation of monthly account reconciliations for inventory & cost-of-goods-sold.
Provide financial analysis of the monthly reporting surrounding product cost issues. Examples include: cost of scrap and waste, cost of testing, labor and capacity efficiencies, material cost variances, work order variance analysis and other direct product cost issues.
Provide support for the development and implementation of methodologies to allocate overhead cost to products, and the methodologies to identifying cost drivers that accurately reflect the total cost of development, manufacturing and marketing.
Oversee the maintenance of the fixed asset system, including asset tagging all manufacturing equipment, computer equipment, furniture & fixtures, and marketing show equipment owned/purchased by the corporation and entering into the fixed asset system.
Responsible for the adequacy and ongoing review of the general & product liability insurance programs; and coordination with insurance brokers.
Responsible as the accounting lead on teams supporting business process improvements through best practice utilization of the ERP system.
Understand the accounting and financial operations of LSI Solutions, GmbH, to enable the preparation and coordination of financial statement audit with external auditors, as well as quarterly VAT filing
Develop, communicate, monitor and report on departmental key performance indicators (KPI).
Lead the monthly analysis of cost of goods sold and gross margin detailing expansion and contraction drivers via Volume / Price / Mix framework
Develop and automate standard reporting tools and dashboards for detailed sales and gross margin analysis
Maintain and improve US GAAP compliant accounting models for inventory and cost of goods sold, including standard cost variance amortization model, intercompany profit in inventory elimination, lower of cost or market reserve, excess and obsolete inventory reserve, etc.
Enhance and maintain internal controls surrounding physical inventory, including physical verification to accounting records via cycle count programs and periodic count verifications
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as subject matter expert for applicable areas of financial statement audits.
Act as a subject matter expert on US GAAP, Statutory Reporting and Financial Reporting for the Company.
Promote clear communication and clarification of corporate and departmental objectives.
Research, develop, and implement necessary systems, competencies, and tools required to improve capability and capacity of the team as well as foster integration with other systems and departments.
Responsible for the appropriate record keeping in accordance with recognized domestic and international financial and medical device regulations, LSI Procedures, and other applicable standards.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or comparable finance field.
CPA or CMA required.
Minimum 15 years of experience in progressive accounting roles.
Inventory or Cost accounting experience preferred.
Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Strong ERP experience, skills and interest.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Logical and analytical thinker with a strong math aptitude.
Understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and document control principles.
Professional development and coaching & counseling ability.
Excellent communication skills including delivery of executive-level presentations involving manufacturing and gross margin financial data.
