The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will provide vision and leadership in technology development and the implementation of college-wide information technology (IT) that serves the needs of the College. In this role, the CIO will lead the college in the plan and application of enterprising information systems that provide cost effective and efficient support for both operational and educational systems. The CIO serves as the senior executive in all matters pertaining to IT within the college. The CIO supports the work of the other units and works collaboratively with the College's online and distance education offices. The principal responsibility of this position is to ensure up-to-date technology systems that are dependable, responsive and fully supportive of the internal and external needs of the college. The CIO will also assume a major role in infusing continuous quality improvement into the culture of the college.

Examples of Duties

Develops/maintains a compelling, achievable strategic vision for the Technology Services Division; implements a corresponding tactical plan that supports the College's strategic plan, mission, and goals.

Works collaboratively with Instructional Support Services and Online Learning to ensure that instructional technologies and virtual learning systems are supported.

Oversees and manages the Information Technology functions of Administrative Systems, Network Systems, Technology Systems Support, and Instructional Technology Systems. Directs departmental operations and services, including applications, asset management, data center, enterprise systems/ERP, infrastructure, integrations, networks, security (network, administrative, physical), help/service desk, and telecommunications.

Oversees and provides leadership to the following functional areas: telecommunications (voice, video, data, and wireless technologies), administrative computing, academic computing, multimedia production studio, data and server management, help desk, classroom technology, information security, and internet technologies.

Provides leadership and development for a knowledgeable, effective and functional IT team through hiring, training, evaluating, and supervising all Technology Services employees.

Works with departments and advisory groups to determine needs and develop strategies to improve user effectiveness and efficiency. Coordinates evaluations and deployment of future technologies. Chairs and convenes the Technology Council.

Leads the development and communication of the College's IT policies, standards and processes.

Develops and manages the departmental budgets in a manner that ensures comprehensive fiscal responsibility. Responsible for approving all product and service purchases of the Technology Services Division.

Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with faculty, students, staff, administration, and external constituencies.

Evaluates operations of computing and information technology functions and recommends improvements.

Advises senior management on strategic system conversions and integrations in support of business and educational goals and objectives.
