SUMMARY
The Engineering Manager - Assembly is a dynamic player-coach who will drive results and develop the engineering teams to design and sustain high-reliability products, delivering timely and high-quality service to internal and external customers. This position provides technical and strategic leadership to the engineering teams supporting St Augustine's Harness Assembly, Legacy Assembly, and Sensor manufacturing cells. This leader will embody ACIT and St Augustine's culture of excellence, execution, and continuous improvement, and will grasp both the big picture of business strategy and how it translates to day-to-day operational success.
The role also offers cross-functional impact, supporting departments such as manufacturing, sales, customer service, quality, testing, product design, and product engineering.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Drive effectiveness of process and manufacturing engineering teams in the Harness Assembly, Legacy Assembly, and Sensor manufacturing cells.
Collaborate with Value Stream Leader to support and drive the operational strategy for the Assembly group, ensuring that operations has the necessary engineering support to execute on its objectives.
Drive actions and monitor the progress of engineer and engineering technician activities in support of product qualification and value stream team objectives.
Direct and/or shared accountability for plant TTIs: waste and associated savings; DPPM and corrective actions review; labor efficiency (process design/manufacturability; process improvements, etc.).
Serveas the technical and functional subject matter expert (SME) for the Assembly, Harness, and Sensor groups. Engages additional technical resources when necessary to ensure robust designs.
Ensures utilization of formal problem-solving, documentation and project management techniques. Leverage data and expertise of team members and other functions to drive continuous improvement.
Participate in or designate coverage for production stand-up, waste, value stream team, product management, and factory project planning meetings. Lead engineering team meetings for assigned areas of responsibility. Actively supports MRB meetings and process.
Foster a culture of learning and growth within the engineering team by supporting training initiatives. Oversee hiring, promotion, development, work assignments, and performance evaluations for direct and indirect reports.Prepares estimates of non-recurring engineering (NRE) costs and preliminary bill of materials (BOM) in support of internal or external quotes.
Reduce engineering and manufacturing costs through product and process improvement.
Communicate with customers to establish understanding of customers' technical requirements and convey design and manufacturing capabilities, product performance, and organizational expertise.
Maintains current knowledge of general interconnect technology and applications, and ensures that the company incorporates best practice into designs and processes.
Enhances technical and managerial skills through ongoing learning; shares best practices with team.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical engineering, or a closely related field.
5+ years in roles requiring engineering management/leadership of technical personnel
5-10 years' experience in the commercial air, avionics, or a related manufacturing field
Experience in rapid-growth/rapid-ramp companies or industries a strong plus
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Six Sigma /TQM certified or experience preferred.

Familiarity with modern approaches to harness manufacturing and software automation. Design and molding, particularly potting, knowledge a strong plus. IQ/OQ/PQ experience.
Industry 4.0 knowledge or experience a plus.
Strategic and critical thinker with ability to develop both long- and short-term plans.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
This role is accountable for leading direct and indirect reports. The Engineering Manager - Assembly directly leads three engineering supervisors and indirectly leads a large group of engineering technicians. This position is responsible for all normal management responsibilities, including hiring, performance management, coaching, feedback, and input on compensation decisions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Amphenol CIT is a clean facility, housing different machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.
