Kadiak LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Informaticist Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support our critical contract with the Indian Health Service (IHS) Health Information Technology (IT) Modernization Program. Our team has proudly supported the IHS mission for over two years, and this position is vital for the continued success of the EHR modernization effort. The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse with a specialization in informatics, possessing extensive experience working for large federal organizations.This position requires a strategic and collaborative leader who can bridge the gap between clinical needs, business processes, and technical solutions. The Informaticist SME will be responsible for ensuring that all health IT systems and processes align with the IHS mission of providing comprehensive, culturally appropriate care to American Indian and Alaska Native communities. This individual will work in close collaboration with our Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), Functional Champion, and Integration Lead to ensure the successful implementation and adoption of the new EHR.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Implementation & Deployment Oversight:
Provide subject matter expertise on implementation and deployment, helping to verify system setups, configurations, and data migration to ensure a smooth transition to the modernized EHR in IHS and tribal facilities.
Sustainment Development and Execution Support:
Advise on the development and execution of sustainment planning for a modern EHR system, clinical workflows, regulatory compliance, and ongoing user adoption through analysis training, and collaboration with clinical and IT stakeholders.
Interoperability & Data Management:
Collaborate on designing and implementing interoperability solutions and data management strategies.
This includes developing presentations and participating in focus groups to inform solution design and project planning, ensuring seamless information sharing with partners like the VA and CMS.
Clinical and Business Process Support:
Work closely with both clinical and business processes, serving as a liaison between the EHR solution vendor, program management office, and IHS end-users.
This includes developing new business process models to reflect updated system operations and ensuring the EHR supports the workflows of IHS staff.
Quality and Governance:
Support the program's Quality Management and Governance efforts by participating in audits and providing expert recommendations on artifacts to ensure the program's overall strategic and technical direction remains on track.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with the CMIO, Functional Champion, and Integration Lead to align on strategic priorities and ensure effective communication across all work streams.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Nursing Informatics, Health Informatics, or a related field.
A minimum of 20 years of professional experience as a nurse with a specialization in informatics, with a significant portion of that time working for large federal government organizations.
Extensive experience with federal government contracting.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multi-contractor environment and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership and clinical staff.
Experience with Cerner (now Oracle Health) products is a huge advantage.
Ability to obtain a public trust
Desired Qualifications:
Active or retired Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Experience with the IHS mission and healthcare delivery model.
Knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework and the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or certifications related to health IT.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to prepare final correspondence, reports, and briefing materials for various audiences.
