The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function. The Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting for an Information Technology Professional II on our server team based in our Carson City, NV office. Candidates should be able to work independently but also be team oriented as this position requires planning and communication with all entities involved. The division has a large technology footprint, and you will be part of a team responsible for administering, enhancing, and maintaining Active Directory / Azure AD, and our Azure cloud environment as well as Network Services, File Data, Backup Systems and Server Operating Systems in a virtualized environment. Ideal candidates should be comfortable with VMware. All candidates must have basic knowledge of Azure management and obtain the AZ900 certification within six months of hire. They also must have experience with Microsoft AD Group Policy and have PowerShell / Scripting knowledge. Need to be familiar with managing multiple generations of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems. This position requires working on standby for evening and weekend system troubleshooting.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
