The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS), Regulatory Compliance Division, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Safety and Compliance Specialist 2 within the Program Administration Unit. Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for processing applications, including supporting materials, from persons seeking certification or recertification as driver safety school owners, providers, program directors, program instructors, and/or for-hire drivers throughout the State of Georgia. These responsibilities will include, but not necessarily limited to, screening customer applications for completeness and accuracy, applying state laws and agency rules to determine whether an applicant meets the statutory requirements for certification or recertification, and providing continuous support to driver safety school owners, program directors, and/or instructors throughout the term of their certification.
The incumbent will be responsible for responding to management and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner in accordance with the core values of DDS.
The incumbent will be expected to maintain a positive attitude and be receptive to change in a fast-paced environment.
The incumbent will be responsible for investigating customer complaints, presenting findings to management, and making recommendations to management on the most appropriate course of action.
The incumbent will be expected to serve on task teams and workgroups and meet established deadlines.
The incumbent will be expected to maintain effective working relations between the Division and its internal and external business partners (including but not limited to DDS Customer Service Centers, other state agencies, and the general public).
The incumbent will be expected to analyze problems by evaluating available information and resources and develop viable solutions.
The incumbent will be expected to create and deliver effective training presentations and participate in outreach events.
The incumbent will be expected to do light lifting (i.e., files, file boxes, training materials).
The incumbent will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality.
**NOTE: The salary for this position is nonnegotiable.
Competencies Needed:
Intermediate skills and experience using Microsoft Office Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure
Ability to make decisions with minimal supervision
Ability to effectively manage time and work independently
Ability to understand and interpret federal and state laws, rules and regulations
Ability to conduct training sessions
Experience creating training materials and effectively presenting the information
Experience working cooperatively as a team
Experience troubleshooting/problem solving
Experience inspecting materials for compliance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Safety & Compliance Spec 1 (RCP010) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.
OR
Associates degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess ALL of the following:
Associate's degree or higher in a business-related field OR Three (3) years of prior experience analyzing problems by evaluating available information and resources to develop effective viable solutions, interpreting and applying state laws, rules, and regulations to determine if an applicant meets certain statutory requirements to hold a government-regulated credential, certification, or license, and providing technical guidance to customers that seek to obtain or possess a particular government-regulated credential, certification, or license.
One (1) year experience handling and maintaining the security of confidential information and/or documents.
One (1) year experience developing and conducting training classes as the course instructor and/or presenter for a class of adult learners.
Condition of Employment:
A valid Georgia driver's license is required and must be maintained while employed in this position.
