Summary The Area Manager is located in the Office of Information and Technology, IT Operations and Services, End User Operations, Continental District. The Area Manager provides leadership and resource management (finance, human, and acquisition), leading the development and implementation strategy required to manage multiple area-wide IT End User Operations. Major Duties: Provides management, supervision and services for Area NetworkOperations Support, Systems Integration, and Systems Design. Responsible for IT Operations Maintenance, Information Assurance and Security Management, Resource and Personnel Management and IT Training. Directs, coordinates or oversees work of supervisors and provides similar oversight of contractors oversees the day-to-day operations, services, maintenance and security for all customers within their immediate geographic area. Qualifications To qualify for this position, all qualification requirements, listed below, must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-14 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-13. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. Basic Requirements Experience: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. AND Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-13 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as: Planning, directing and/or providing technical guidance to improve IT programs and/or computing environment; providing direction, leadership and mentoring to staff; identifying and/or resolving root causes of problems that degrade delivery of essential Information Technology services; using technical expertise to analyze options for applications, communications and network changes; experience in IT operations, supervision and/or management of IT delivery systems and equipment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
