Description We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Watsonville, California. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance while supporting strategic decision-making. The position primarily requires onsite work, with flexibility depending on training needs, and will last approximately 4-5 weeks.

Responsibilities:

Maintain and update accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.

Prepare, review, and post journal entries as part of the monthly close process.

Analyze and interpret financial data to aid in strategic decision-making.

Collaborate on cross-training initiatives to support departmental coverage and skill development.

Reconcile selected balance sheet accounts and conduct detailed analyses to ensure accuracy.

Assist in the preparation and review of monthly financial reports to ensure data integrity.

Address inquiries from upper management regarding financial information and support their decision-making processes.

Perform special projects and additional assignments as directed by management.

Review various accounting reports to ensure clarity and accuracy.

Utilize Excel and other accounting software to perform calculations and manage financial data effectively. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with a focus on detail-oriented tasks.

Proficiency in intermediate Excel functions, including formulas and data analysis.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processes.

Solid foundation in accounting principles and practices.

Experience with accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger activities.

Ability to perform journal entries and reconcile bank accounts.

Familiarity with JD Edwards software is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly desirable.
