Accounting Supervisor

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead and manage financial operations for our organization in Watsonville, California. This role involves overseeing critical financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and driving improvements in efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities and a solid understanding of nonprofit accounting practices.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, annual audit preparation, and other key financial projects.

Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and implement scalable solutions to optimize workflows.

Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to maintain consistency and compliance.

Provide financial insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making across departments.

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Prepare and review audit schedules, addressing complex accounting issues and working closely with auditors.

Oversee the reconciliation of accounts, grants, and inventory in collaboration with relevant teams.

Maintain accurate general ledger entries, fixed asset schedules, and depreciation records.

Support grant budget development, tracking, and reporting to ensure compliance with funding requirements.

Manage and mentor the Accounting Specialist, providing feedback and identifying training opportunities. Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics and a deep understanding of the accounting cycle.

Expertise in month-end close processes, financial audits, and general ledger management.

Strong skills in account reconciliation, journal entry preparation, and financial reporting.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in supervising and developing team members.
