As a Software Engineer II on C.H. Robinson's RMS Delivery Team, you will collaborate with engineering product managers and fellow software engineers to design, build, and deliver industry-leading solutions that delight our customers. You'll be responsible for evaluating requirements, estimating tasks, managing risks, and implementing software that meets performance, quality, business, and security objectives. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about writing clean, efficient code and continuously improving engineering practices and team culture.
Responsibilities:
Develop software and design solutions that meet customer requirements with a focus on performance and availability
Partner with engineering product managers and principal engineers to translate requirements into detailed technical designs
Conduct code reviews and write unit, integration, and acceptance tests to ensure high code quality
Optimize, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance and maintainability
Troubleshoot and resolve performance and availability issues in production environments
Create and maintain thorough technical documentation
Write secure code and proactively address security vulnerabilities
Estimate development efforts and identify dependencies across teams
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
Mentor and coach junior engineers; seek mentorship to grow your own skills
Contribute to defining and adopting engineering best practices and lifecycle standards
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IS, MIS, or related field, or 4+ years of equivalent work experience with a high school diploma/GED
2+ years' experience developing and implementing commercial software
2+ years' experience with object-oriented programming (e.g., C#, .NET, Java)
1+ year experience with relational (e.g., MS SQL, Oracle) or non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, Elastic, Cosmos)
Familiarity with HTTP and RESTful architecture
1+ year experience with unit, integration, and acceptance testing
1+ year experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub, TFS)
1+ year experience with CI/CD practices
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with system integration or global projects
Background in transportation, logistics, or business systems
Proven success delivering software in an Agile environment
Experience building cloud-native applications (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP)
Familiarity with data streaming and messaging frameworks (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, ESB)
Self-motivated with strong communication and customer focus
Growth mindset open to feedback and continuous learning

Compensation Range
$88,500.00 - $147,400.00
