C.H Robinson is seeking a Software Engineer II on our Book-It-Now/Digital Negotiator Costing team where you will collaborate with our data science teams to costing automation and platforms to more efficiently find capacity/trucks to place shipments on. This platform is responsible for costing/pricing shipments in a $1B+ 2-sided marketplace. The primary focus will be on choosing optimal solutions to use for these purposes; then maintaining, implementing, monitoring them, and supporting experimentation. In this role you will also be responsible for integrating these services with the architecture used across the company. This role will focus on iterating and improving on machine-learning based pricing and costing solutions with a focus on experimentation and having a significant measurable impact. Help us take the system to the next level of uptime and data management (real-time/near real-time).
This position is open to candidates located in Minneapolis, Chicago, or Kansas City. Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of this position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Partner with product managers, data scientists, and senior software engineers to translate requirements into detailed designs
Partner with data scientists and data analysts to drive performance improvements for our applications and models
Proactively troubleshoot applications and identify performance and availability issues providing effective options for resolution
Tune performance and resolve availability issues of product or service and its dependencies
Manage real-time or near real-time data processing
Increase code quality through writing unit, integration, and acceptance tests
Collaborate with other software engineers and teams on code reviews, development infrastructure, and process enhancements
Grow, push the boundaries and learn new things to apply to our team's work
Write clean, maintainable Python code
Be literate in statistics and machine learning topics (although not needed to be an expert) Participate in AGILE/SCRUM process
Work directly on a product suite that drives significant revenue and cost-saving impacts to the company bottom line
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience collaborating in a team environment shipping software
Proficient creating applications and features in object-oriented and functional programming environments
Working experience with database objects in relational databases (ex. MS SQL, Oracle, Postgres) and non-relational databases (ex. MongoDB)
Proficient with GIT for version control
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience and a high school diploma/GED
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure developing containerized applications (Docker)
Experience with LLMs and Generative AI tooling
Experience with monitoring tools (ex.DataDog)
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation Range
$75,900.00 - $168,500.00
