ABOUT THE Division
General description
The Texas Comptrollers Office is hiring a Desktop Configuration Administrator within the Information Technology Division. This role is responsible for providing advanced support for agency workstations in a Microsoft MECM environment. Key duties include, complex issue resolution, software packaging and deployment, vulnerability management, remote desktop support, and developing technical documentation and process automation to optimize system performance. The position may supervise the work of others. Strong customer service skills and proven expertise in systems support are essential. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner who can adapt rapidly to shifting priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Work Hours
Work hours are between 6:00AM to 6:00PM, 40-hour week, Monday Friday. Occasionally work overtime and/or additional hours on evenings, weekends and/or holidays during business peaks. Performs on-call duty on a rotational basis. Employee must be capable of being onsite within one (1) hour of being called. Hours may change based on business need.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Seven (7) years of direct work experience with desktop PC and application support for networks of 500 or more end points. Experience in deploying applications using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager or System Center Configuration Manager (MECMSCCM). Demonstrable skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems Experience with Active Directory administration Experience with PowerShell
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Management Information Systems. Experience in creating and deploying software using MECM or PowerShell Experience in supporting virtual desktop infrastructure, like VMware Horizon Advanced troubleshooting skills in a secure workstation environment Experience with working in a problem tracking tool to submit, work and organize tickets Win 11 or most current Operating Experience Office O365 or most current MS Office experience Experience with Tenable Vulnerability Management for workstations Experience with workstation support using Remote Management Tools Experience with Print Server Management
Substitution
One (1) additional year of full-time work experience with desktop PC and application support may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of required education with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).

In this role you will:
Provides technical support for hardware software and applications Determines support requirements for the location, devise installation, and operation of IT Equipment and systems Coordinates with IT sections to determine issues and resolutions Coordinates with peers and customers to provide status of assigned tickets Coordinates with vendors to support IT hardware and software Validates and verifies cost associated with IT equipment Implements, schedules and completes approved hardware and software deployments Implements customer approved hardware and software Evaluates and recommends actions on testing and certification of software and hardware upgrades Develops and documents Standard Operating Procedures Manages and assigns tickets in Service Now to peers and other teams Develops and deploys Disaster Recovery desktops for DR events Schedules and completes hardware and software system implementations and maintenance Manages and administers desktop hardware and software including planning and coordinating upgrades and maintenance activities Implements and administers field coordination and planning for the effective installation, update and removal of hardware, software and equipment Administers and adjusts hardware and software to fit within the agency guidelines Develops and tests PC based applications Researches virus, Trojan and worm issues and report findings to Information Security Researches and evaluates solutions for Hardware and software Researches new equipment that will fit within the agencies structure Evaluates, and recommends hardware and software to fit within the agency guidelines Research outside sources for known solutions to increase agency knowledgebase Designs presentations, flowcharts and knowledge bases to support agency hardware and software Analyzes and tests new procedures Researches budget requirements for IT equipment Evaluates and offers solutions for all IT equipment Develops and designs field coordination and planning for the effective installation, update and removal of hardware, software and equipment Performs other related duties as assigned
