The Light Connection Inc. ("TLC") is headquartered in Oriskany, NY and is a leading manufacturer of fiber-optic cable. TLC, along with its sister company Fiber Instrument Sales, is an affiliate company of Giotto Enterprises.

Summary Reporting to the President, the Director of Manufacturing is responsible to facilitate and supervise the manufacturing operation. This position requires the ability and experience to execute the production plan in order to meet company and customer requirements within the procedures and efficiencies established as an ISO 9001 company.

The Director of Manufacturing will be expected to continue to improve current manufacturing procedures, processes, and maintain a trained staff to meet the requirements of a progressive manufacturing work environment.

In coordination with Sales, Engineering, PIC, Accounting, and Shipping, this position will communicate daily planned verses actual status to the production plan to ensure the ability of Sales to communicate delivery schedules to customers.

This position is responsible for the maintenance and continued improvement of providing for a safe working environment.

Duties & Responsibilities Oversee the production process Ensure implementation and evolution of safety procedures and training Maintain and promote improvements to production rate standards Maintain and promote improvements to product quality standards Maintain and promote improvements to Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Maintain and promote improvements to scrap and waste reduction Support Operator training and certification Support and report progress of weekly production supervision training meetings Ensure products are produced on time and meet established quality standards Track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development as required to meet objectives Company safety officer (Maintain and submit necessary documentation according to OSHA regulations, chair monthly safety team meetings, record minutes and distribute) Oversee tool crib procedures and integrity Willing to travel to customer sites and attend industry seminars Support equipment and process improvements

Qualifications Bachelors degree in manufacturing, engineering or management from an accredited institution. Must have a minimum of five years working experience in manufacturing (cable extrusion and fiber optics preferred). Knowledge of Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP) and Shop Floor Control (SFC) . Outgoing professional with efficient managerial skills, positive responses to challenging situations. Proficient communication skills (oral and written). Strong leadership, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
