The Operations Manager demonstrates the ability to direct and delegate the daily operations of the assigned unit department utilizing effective and efficient tools/techniques to enhance physician and patient satisfaction,
Collaborates with the department Director to develop and implement operational efficiencies to ensure quality outcomes and meet or exceed required departmental metrics,
Ensures the department is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations
Section III Job Qualifications Education Training Certification Licensure
Education Experience
Bachelor s degree or relevant experience
Master s degree in related field MSN, MBA preferred
Three years of related departmental experience required
Two years of progressive management experience in related field preferred
Certifications Licenses
Registered Nurse RN with valid New Jersey state license required
Basic Life Support BLS CPR and Advance Cardiac Life Support ACLS certification required
Membership and participation in professional nursing and community organizations preferred

Job Functions
Collaborates with the Director in the development and enforcement of operational policies and procedures to ensure optimal patient outcomes,
Develops department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures,
Ensures goals and objectives are met within the specified timeframe while providing the highest quality of care compliant with all regulatory requirements,
Ensures consistent, proactive communication with patients and staff in a professional and courteous manner,
Maintains active communication among physicians, staff, nursing staff, and other ancillary departments, ensuring schedule progression and problem solving,
Plans, organizes, directs, monitors, and oversees the daily activities involved in the effective and efficient management of the department schedule, providing continuous and high-quality service for the patient, physician, and staff,
Relates effectively with entire department for continuity of care; maintains satisfactory relations with the medical staff, other departments, and nursing units,
Works in coordination with Director for staffing, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement,
Human Resources Financial Management
Provides performance feedback, development and or counseling to staff when appropriate per hospital and departmental policies,
Works with Service Line Managers and the Clinical Educator to develop education plans for the staff input only,
Monitors the allocation and utilization of personnel, based on continual changes in patient population needs, and provides level of patientcare while identifying savings opportunities,
Manages the labor resources and productivity to budget and provides appropriate justification for discrepancies,
Provides direct supervision and accountability for assigned staff,
Operational Management
Coordinates activities of the Charge Nurses and staff, along with housekeeping and transport teams,
Oversees the day to day operations of running the schedule, including practice standards, staffing and rounding to ensure timely schedule progression,
Tracks efficiency and productivity metrics such as on-time starts, late starts, turnaround time, utilization, block, staff productivity, etc,
Makes routine rounds on physicians regarding their experiences using our services,
Works with Director to create improvement plans where appropriate,
Collaborates with the AOD to ensure that patient care runs efficiently in accordance with policies and procedures,
Prioritizes ancillary resources housekeeping, Clinical Care Technicians, etc,
Is able to develop, direct, motivate, and gain commitment from teams and to work effectively as a team member and team leader; ability to negotiate for desired results,
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills and exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills,
Reviews daily procedural room schedule 1 to 2 weeks in advance for potential conflicts or issues,
Patient Care Management
Monitors the quality of service and utilization standards and assumes general responsibility for patient care at the department level,
Collaborates with Service Line Managers to ensure the highest quality of care is provided and is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements,
Functions as a resource and role model for clinical expertise,
Demonstrates clinical competency in related areas,
Collaborates with physicians to provide coordinated plans of customer-focused care and effective utilization of services,
Investigates and assists in resolution of patient, family, physician concerns and develops plans of action to improve programs where necessary,
Monitors vendor activity in the department and validates the physician and case they will be supporting,
Research, Education and Performance Improvement
Demonstrates knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, and staffing,
Assists with review and or revision of policy and procedures as related to operational processes,
Creates and implements action plans for metrics not meeting established goal,
Demonstrates knowledge of New Jersey Nursing Practice Act, TJC, NJDHSS, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements,
Demonstrates knowledge of AORN and AAMI Standards,
Consistently monitors to assure current awareness of the level of patient care being performed in the department,
Supports and enforces hospital and departmental policies and procedures,
