Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking an Accountant II to manage a range of advanced accounting functions. Responsibilities include preparing, analyzing, and interpreting financial reports in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will reconcile and monitor general ledger accounts, audit financial records, and recommend corrective actions. The role involves supporting complex financial processes, assisting in audits, and delivering timely financial reporting. Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards, crafting or improving accounting procedures, and collaborating across departments to resolve issues. Participation in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes is required, with responsibilities such as preparing journal entries, conducting account analysis, and assisting in the preparation of year-end financial statements.

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and at least three years of professional accounting experience. Expertise in governmental and/or nonprofit accounting and proficiency in GAAP is required, along with advanced skills in financial software, spreadsheets (MS Excel), and data analysis tools. The role requires strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills for explaining financial information to diverse stakeholders and demonstrated experience training or guiding accounting staff. Advanced knowledge of internal controls, accounting regulations, and financial reporting is essential. Familiarity with system upgrades and process improvements is a plus. Compliance with mandated reporter requirements and successful completion of a background check are prerequisites for this role.
