What You Will Do
Come join our team! Power Supply Production (PSP) Division is looking for a Staff Operations Manager 3 (SOM) who reports to the Division Leader. The SOM will serve as an onsite member of the PSP Division management team and provide high level administrative, business, and operational support to division and group managers. The incumbent will work in a collaborative and professional team environment and serve as a key advisor to advance the business deliverables and initiatives of the division. The SOM maintains contact with all levels of the Laboratory staff and management, maintains current knowledge of laboratory policies, procedures, and practices, has the authority to represent management on activities and committees, and serves as a liaison in responding to internal and external institutional requests, particularly staffing (human resources) and financial (budget) requests. The SOM will conduct research and analysis on technical, operational, and administrative issues related to PSP operations, will be an advocate for support staff across the division, and will lead efforts that enable administrative continuous development. The incumbent will respond quickly and substantively, sometimes in the absence of specific direction, to a variety of matters that require discretion, confidentiality, judgment, analysis, and final recommendations to the division management team.
Manage the division and group Administrative Assistants (AAs) and Professional Staff Assistants (PSAs). Develop and seek input on annual performance reviews and provide guidance on consistency in business processes.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Operational Experience:
Advanced knowledge and successful demonstrated experience with the administrative management of human resources and financial management and at least three of the following areas: business; administrative system development and implementation; personnel management; and strategic and tactical planning.
Leadership/Influence:
Advanced supervisory experience with an excellent record of team building, collaboration, and leadership. Knowledge of, and demonstrated successful experience in, management, supervision, mentorship, and professional development of employees.
Personal Leadership:
Excellent organizational skills and a proven ability to independently establish priorities while working effectively under pressure, with frequent interruptions, as well as managing projects and executing complex operational and business assignments. Must have the ability to work independently and on teams.
Problem Solving:
Advanced experience in effective decision-making and creative problem-solving, including skills in researching and recommending alternative solutions to problems. Expert knowledge of, and successfully demonstrated experience in, developing, implementing, and managing innovation and process improvements.
Communication:
Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of management and personnel, including negotiating, influencing, conflict resolution, consensus building, oral presentation, and written communications. Demonstrated ability to create preliminary drafts of Division positions, presentations, and procedures when provided input from a variety of sources.
Desired Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge of the Laboratory's organizational structure and implementing policies, procedures, and instructions.
Demonstrated proficiency in multiple laboratory-wide systems and applications to include Oracle, Concur, iProcurement, and computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams).
Active Q Clearance.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Work Location: This position will be on site and physically located in Los Alamos, NM.
Position commitment: The position commitment for this position is 1 year. Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: T he Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
