Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Washington, District of Columbia. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage a variety of accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of financial systems and processes and be comfortable working in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.

Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all entries are documented and compliant with financial regulations.

Assist in managing grant-related financial activities, including tracking expenses and preparing reports.

Utilize accounting software and ERP systems to streamline financial operations and reporting.

Prepare and review invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely billing.

Conduct regular audits to verify financial data and resolve discrepancies.

Collaborate with team members to improve financial processes and ensure compliance with organizational policies.

Generate and analyze financial reports to support decision-making and strategy development.

Ensure accurate payroll processing using ADP financial services.

Support other accounting tasks as needed to meet organizational goals. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.

Proficiency in using accounting software systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.

Familiarity with ADP financial services and payroll processing.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including auditing and billing.

Experience in managing grant-related financial tasks is highly desirable.

Ability to generate and interpret financial reports accurately.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Proficiency in Workday or similar financial management systems is a plus.
