SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations by verifying transactions, reviewing accountant work product and documenting processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department.

Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.

Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy and implementing best practices.

Assist with timely month-end and year-end close processes.

Reconcile certain General Ledger Accounts.

Supervise and mentor accounting staff.

Respond

requests

for

information

and

various

projects

received

from

management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Accountant may supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable staff to include training and development opportunities, conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and good understanding of chart of accounts and accounting systems.

Strong background in accounts payable and accounts receivable procedures.

Must be organized and detailed-oriented.

Must have strong attention to detail, accuracy, good judgment, initiative, decision making and time management and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.

Knowledge of the financial month-end close process.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Ability to collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information for financial analysis.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent of education and experience. At least 4 years work experience in Accounting required with 2 years of AR/AP responsibilities. Experience at a public CPA firm is a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

CPA a plus, not required

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must have strong communication skills, both oral and written.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of

AEM, Inc.
