Summary
The Lead, Marketing Automation & Technology is responsible for driving platform strategy, system integrations, and cross-functional collaboration across SHRM's marketing technology ecosystem. This leadership role oversees the contracting, implementation, optimization, and governance of key platforms including Adobe Marketo Engage, Vibes SMS, Dynamic Chat and Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO).
Working closely with Marketing, IT, and Business Intelligence teams, this position ensures seamless data flow and platform operability to enable advanced automation, personalization, and analytics. This individual will play a pivotal role in SHRM's digital transformation efforts by aligning marketing technology capabilities with both B2C/B2B marketing strategies and organizational priorities.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Marketo and other marketing automation/journey orchestration platforms and will facilitate, promote, and support a test-and-learn culture that enhances campaign performance and marketing ROI.
Responsibilities
Marketing Technology Leadership & Strategy
Own and manage SHRM's marketing technology stack, including platform selection, contract management, implementation planning, system governance, and ongoing optimization
Lead the strategy and execution of Adobe Marketo Engage, ensuring seamless integrations with CRM (Salesforce), web, and analytics platforms.
Oversee the use and integration of tools including Vibes SMS, Dynamic Chat, and Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) to deliver real-time, multi-channel engagement.
Ensure appropriate campaign tagging, segmentation, and tracking are in place across platforms in collaboration with Business Intelligence.
Serve as a cross-functional leader between Marketing, IT, and Business Intelligence, translating business needs into technical solutions.
Supervise two senior marketing technology specialists.
Marketing Automation & Personalization
Oversee advanced audience segmentation, personalization strategies, and automation workflows within Adobe Marketo Engage and supporting platforms.
Drive the use of AI-powered personalization and test-and-learn strategies including A/B testing.
Technology Integrations & Process Optimization
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify marketing automation use cases, define business requirements, and oversee technical implementation.
Oversee and streamline data integrations across platforms.
Support the implementation and optimization of the CDP to improve data unification, customer insights, and omnichannel marketing.
Education & Experience Requirements
Education:
Germane degree and non-degree credentials or other verifications of skills and competencies will be considered
Experience:
At least seven (7) years of experience in marketing technology, digital marketing, or a related field.
Proven expertise in Adobe Marketo Engage, including automation workflows, audience segmentation, and performance optimization.
Hands-on experience with cross-channel campaign management, CDP platforms, and web personalization technologies.
Experience collaborating with IT, Business Intelligence, and marketing teams to optimize technology integrations and marketing performance.
Experience with Salesforce, Adobe Target, Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) and Customer Journey Analytics preferred.
Exposure to predictive analytics, AI-driven marketing, and machine learning for customer segmentation preferred.
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and relational databases preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to effectively leverage artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and improve overall work quality.
Strong knowledge of marketing analytics, campaign attribution models, and data-driven decision-making.
Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Strong analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to marketing optimization.
Expert knowledge of marketing automation, email best practices, audience segmentation, and CRM integrations.
Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and align technology with business objectives.
Certifications
Adobe Marketo Engage Business Practitioner Expert a plus.

Work Environment
Hybrid Position (3 Days In-Office, 2 Days Remote):
This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday remote. Employees must be available during standard business hours, with core hours beginning between 8:00AM - 9:00AM and concluding between 5:00PM - 6:00PM.
Travel: 0 - 10%

The hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
