Accounting Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team in Chicopee, Massachusetts. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in managing housing-related financial and administrative processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintaining smooth operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and proficiency in supporting housing recertifications.

Responsibilities:

Maintain and update property waiting lists to ensure accurate tracking.

Handle all aspects of resident recertifications and lease renewals, including conducting interviews, gathering required documentation, and assessing program eligibility.

Apply Section 8 guidelines in property management processes to ensure regulatory compliance.

Accurately calculate income, assets, and rental amounts for residents.

Collaborate with maintenance staff to coordinate timely move-ins and move-outs.

Schedule and oversee apartment inspections for both move-ins and recertifications.

Organize and maintain resident files according to company policies and regulatory standards.

Communicate effectively with local Housing Authorities regarding recertifications, subsidy adjustments, and contract agreements.

Manage and reconcile the subsidy ledger, including making corrections as needed.

Assist with additional office tasks such as rent collection and coordinating social activities. Requirements - Proven experience in billing and financial tasks.

Familiarity with supportive housing recertification processes.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of Section 8 housing guidelines is highly desirable.

Capability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
