Summary: The Vice President of Finance is a member of the Executive
Management Team and is responsible for ensuring that all financial
transactions are handled properly, are following all financial
regulations and grant requirements, and the agency budget meets the
mission of the organization. Ensure that appropriate financial policies
and procedures exist and are followed so that MassHire?s financial
operations function efficiently, support the mission, and follow
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Position Specific
Responsibilities: Participates as a member of MassHire Holyoke?s
Executive Management Team (EMT), which supports the President/CEO in all
aspects of MassHire Holyoke?s mission, vision, operation, and
development. Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the finance team.
Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach:
assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and
monitor and evaluate results. Develops and maintains automated
accounting systems which reflect the needs of MassHire Holyoke
management, Board of Directors, Regional Workforce Board, Department of
Labor and Workforce Development, and other monitoring and funding
agencies. Assures contract compliance in all procurement and other
vendor transactions. Prepare monthly financial reports for MassHire
Holyoke Board of Directors, Program Directors and other agencies. Serves
as contact person for external audits, fiscal monitoring required by
contracts, and other agencies. Ensures MassHire Holyoke compliance with
state and federal payroll and tax requirements. Responsible for
establishing and maintaining strong internal controls and fiscal
policies. Responsible for monthly expense allocation. Responsible for
cash flow monitoring and forecasting. Lead the process of preparing an
annual budget through collaboration with the leadership team, the
finance committee, and the Board. Prepare 30-40 individual grant budgets
and amendments throughout the year. Prepare monthly revenue billing for
30-40 grants. Oversee financial forecast, including analysis and
insights into the key drivers, assumptions and changes. Provide
recommendations regarding opportunities, risk management, and resource
allocation. Collaborate with the President/CEO and Board to develop
long-term financial plans, including sustainability and growth
strategies. Responsible for helping coordinate the implementation of
benefit programs, including but not limited to PFLMA, health insurance,
retirement and voluntary participation programs. Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor?s degree in accounting, Finance, Business
Administration, or related field (required)., MBA, or similar
certifications are preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of
experience in nonprofit finance. CPA preferred Skills & Competencies:
Familiarity with government contract regulations (FAR, OMB Circulars,
CFR, A-133). Strong knowledge of cost reimbursement contracts. Strong
knowledge of payroll regulations, including federal, state, and local
tax laws, and experience with nonprofit payroll systems. Expertise in
developing cost allocation plans for government contracts. Proficiency
with payroll and financial software (e.g., Checkwriters, MIP).
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for both
nonprofit and government contract environments. Ability to communicate
complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. High
attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage
multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Strong
interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work
effectively with internal teams and external partners.
