Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client's team on the Southeast side of Indianapolis. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic construction environment, supporting financial operations for a company actively involved in major highway projects. With a focus on career growth and skill development, this position is designed to prepare the right candidate for a leadership role in accounting within the next few years.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Controller to analyze and report on the financial status of construction contracts, including progress, risks, and backlog forecasting.

Manage monthly financial close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Oversee job costing and project accounting to support financial planning and decision-making.

Prepare detailed project billings for both public and private sector work.

Conduct inventory management and reporting to maintain accurate financial records.

Complete prequalification reports and other documentation required for project bidding and compliance.

Assist with year-end audits, coordinating with external auditors to ensure smooth processes.

Provide insight and support for lease accounting and fixed asset management.

Requirements - Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or successful completion of the CPA exam.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting, with a strong understanding of construction accounting practices.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software such as Viewpoint Spectrum.

Solid knowledge of general ledger functions, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and fixed asset accounting.

Experience in lease accounting and inventory accounting is preferred.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and external partners.
