Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD078000 and is part of the TN ARMY National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 103 (Volunteer Chapter). Responsibilities As a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER, WG-6912-07, you will inspect, receive, sort, count, and classify hazardous materials such as explosives, toxic chemicals, flammables, gas cylinders, radioactive material, and hazardous waste. Prepare material for shipment, storage, and disposition. Pack, cushion, apply preservatives and protects property as appropriate. Contact generating activities, shipping agencies, and National Guard (NG) environmental personnel to coordinate requirements of environmental policies and directives. Coordinate turn-in activities with the Defense Reutilization Marketing Office (DRMO) or contractors. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E-2 through E-7 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which involves identifying, conditioning classifying, categorizing, and processing materials and equipment; examining materials to establish or ensure their identity and observable physical condition and processing them according to stablished procedures; experience or training which demonstrates the ability to distinguish between closely related or similar items, ability to follow procedures, ability to sort materials by @type, and skill in the use of hand tools. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months experience or training identifying and sorting a variety of complex materials and equipment. Experience receiving materials and equipment, recording, and placing items in proper storage areas. Experience preparing all items for shipment using appropriate agency instructions. Expert knowledge of specialized handling, storing, disposal, and safety procedures related to hazardous materials to ensure adherence to governing regulatory guidance, policies, and procedures. Experience in mathematical equations. Experience interpreting and using Federal Supply Catalogs, military and manufacturing catalogs, and technical and agency manuals. Experience using and operating forklifts and motor vehicles. Education Education Requirement: High School Diploma/GED Substitution of Education to qualify for this position is not available. MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 179 days in any continuous 12-month period).
