VIZIO's Technology - Software and Services team is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the HTML5 App platform team.? The team maintains and enhances the platform that enables hundreds of 3rd party Apps to run on Vizio TV's, which accounts for the majority of user viewing hours. The Senior Software Engineer will fix bugs, address technical debt and design / implement new features. In this role, you will be a member of a dedicated 8-10-person engineering team, and report to our Engineering Manager. The position is an individual contributor and will have no direct reports. We are looking for candidates with over 3 years of C++ experience, Python experience, and Linux Shell or System experience. We pride ourselves on being a collaborative team here at Vizio and to accomplish this, we are in office 5 days a week in our Dallas, TX office.

What You'll Do
Business Collaboration: Review requirements documents for feasibility and collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs.
Architecture: Design and document technical solutions, create architectural standards, and ensure alignment with business goals.
Technical Guidance: Create epics and design documents, communicate designs to development teams, and provide ongoing technical guidance.
Technical Excellence: Identify and drive improvements in the technical quality of existing solutions.
Technical Consistency: Promote common solutions across teams to ensure consistency and efficiency.
What You'll Bring
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Collaboration and Negotiation: Strong skills in collaboration and negotiation, particularly in technical and business @contexts.
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline.
Experience: At least 5 years in software engineering and 2 years in a technical leadership role.
Embedded Systems: Preferred experience in embedded systems.
Technical Solutions: Proven ability to negotiate technical solutions across multiple teams and balance feature delivery with business needs.
