JOB SUMMARY

Tool & Die Chemical Engraver Technician works as part of a team that applies textures/patterns to plastic injection molds. This is an excellent opportunity for an idividual who is motivated to learn new skills, be challenged, and stand out for the work you do. The ideal candidate is motivated by a challenging work environment in which they have the opportunity to learn and show their skills in a variety of ways throughout the texturing process. There is potential for growth and advancement based on skills learned and application. Candidates must be meticulous, a critical thinker, and problem solver. Previous experience in vinyl wrap, automotive mold shop, manufacturing plant is strongly preferred but willing to train right candidate.

Skills Used in Texturing Process: Injection Mold Assembly/Disassembly Sandblasting (Abrasive Media) Masking (Vinyl Tape Application) Printing (Patterned Film Application) Etching (Chemical Etching Pattern in Steel)

STATUS- Full time, 40 hours per week, Mon-Friday. Opportunity for overtime available.

PAY- Hourly, starting at $16-17 Per Hour Entry Level, increases with learned skills/ability. If you are experienced in the automotive texturing process, pay will be based on skill level and skill set (FINE MASKING/PRINTING/ETCHING/TEXTURE REPAIR).

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Candidates starting off will be trained in the foundational skill sets of sandblasting and masking. Once proficient in both, there will be opportunity for growth in new skills learned.

Perform a series of basic and some moderately complex operations using a variety of hand tools and work instructions to properly conduct correct applications/process' in the various steps in the texturing process.

Examine sketches, diagrams, sample marked parts, blueprints, or photographs to decide how designs/patterns are to be etched, cut, or engraved onto molds.

Inspect completed work for conformance to verbal and written instructions, drawings, and specifications.

Engrave and print patterns, designs, etchings, trademarks, or lettering onto flat or curved sufaces of a wide variety of metal, glass, plastic, or paper items, using hand tools or hand-held power tools.

Maintain thorough understanding of how the quality of work being done in each of the texturings steps leads to the quality of the finished texture of the mold.

Maintain clean, organized work area to facilitate functions.

Follow and accurately interpret written instructions, drawings, planning, sketches, and best practice worksheets.

Measure and compute dimensions of lettering, designs, or patterns to be engraved.

Neutralize workpieces to remove acid, wax, or enamel, using water, solvents, brushes, or specialized machines.

Transfer image to workpiece, using contact printer, pantograph stylus, silkscreen printing device, film, or stamp pad.

Remove wax or tape from etched mold by using blades.

Sandblast exposed areas of mold to apply patterns to surfaces, using spray or blast gun.

Sketch, trace, or scribe layout lines and designs on workpieces, dies using scribers, gravers, or pencils.
